Manner of Production
In producing speech-sounds, the speaker momentarily obstructs the flow of air out of the lungs.
This obstruction can take several forms.
For example, the airflow can be fully stopped for a moment, as it is in the /t/ and /b/ sounds, or the air can continue to flow, as it does in the pronunciation of /f/ and /v/.
These differences in how the airflow is restricted are referred to as the manner of production for theat speech sound.
